When I first found out that Alaskan Huskies were suffering untimely deaths at the hands of mushers who considered them akin to any utility, I was heartbroken. I had to do something.
Little did I know that five years later I’d be preparing to engage in my first Iditarod competition and be the proud owner of 22 Alaskan Husky sled dogs at my home in Fairbanks, Alaska.
I’m Abe Young, and the preservation and humane treatment of sled dogs is my life’s calling. I’ve rescued or found homes for hundreds of retired sled dogs, and I’ve created this blog to showcase their amazing history and ability.
If you have questions or comments about sled dogs, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I also have information about sled dog adoption and can get you set up with the right dog for your family.
